Hydrogen could be most efficient ‘future fuel’ option

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to the powertrain of the future, but some argue that hydrogen could provide the greatest benefits. By Michael Nash

In the not so distant past, only a small handful of OEMs had battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in production. Now, companies are falling over each other in the rush to get their latest BEVs to market, expanding their ever-growing electrified model portfolios.

Behind the curtain and away from the hype, some OEMs have quietly continued to develop their fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). These latest models could make more sense for widespread adoption when considering a well-to-wheel efficiency analysis.
