Google’s self-driving computer is now considered a driver

Several areas of NHTSA standards aren’t met, but the government agency says Google’s computer is in control of the vehicle. By Freddie Holmes

In what would appear to be a U-turn from earlier views, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) now recognises Google’s self-driving system (SDS) as a ‘driver’.
