Massachusetts-based software developer ICS is one of the latest companies to join the GENIVI Alliance, a non-profit automotive alliance geared at driving the widespread uptake of an open source in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) software. ICS observed that its own solutions are geared at shortening development cycles, speeding time to market and cutting costs for companies developing complex IVI systems - the same goals as that of the GENIVI Alliance. Automotive World spoke with ICS Chief Operating Officer Mark Hatch on how GENIVI and the open-source model is changing the automotive industry today.
