Dual-clutch transmissions (DCT) are moving into heavy vehicles. The technology has featured in passenger vehicles for several years now, with drivers commenting on the system's ability to offer seamless acceleration and smooth shift between gears. Many OEMs began adding DCT to models in around 2008/2009, but the best known examples are the Porsche PDK or the DSG. However, Volvo Trucks will soon be introducing I-Shift Dual Clutch to its heavy-duty FH truck in Europe.
