Evolution, not revolution for the transition to electric cars

Growth of the global electric vehicle market will be slow and steady, write Stephen George and Mark Routt

Despite the sharp rises in sales of environmentally-friendly vehicles, the reality is that market penetration for alternatively-fuelled vehicles (AFVs) is still a long way from critical mass. Whilst increasing private passenger car ownership and globally strong transport fuel demand growth continue to overshadow the cost saving associated with AFVs, their impact on transport fuel markets is likely to be small over the next decade.
