EU tariff rate fixed at 15%, Korea remains outlier on 25%

Tariffs on auto imports from the EU have finally been reduced to 15%, yet no solution has emerged for the stalled US-Korea trade talks. By Will Girling

On 23 September 2025, the US government finally confirmed that automotive imports from the EU will receive a 15% tariff, effective retroactively from 1 August. This ends almost two months of uncertainty following the announcement, though not implementation, of a new trade framework on 27 July.
