The ongoing emissions scandal has spooked some manufacturers working in the automotive supply chain. Those supplying VW will hope to weather any shortfalls via relationships with other customers, but the spotlight has already been turned on other OEMs. The German Motor Transport Authority has announced that spot tests will be carried out on other manufactures’ models as part of its inquiry. This could see a widespread drop-off in demand for diesel engine components, whilst fines and sanctions could result in further losses of business.
