Caught on camera: truck industry to further embrace video-based safety

Video technology could bring about behaviour change that would save the trucking industry huge amounts. By Xavier Boucherat

Within the US trucking industry, the combined cost associated with collisions, insurance fraud, fuel waste and fleet operational inefficiency stands at US$326bn, and in excess of US800bn globally. That’s the view of risk management company Lytx. In addition, figures from the World Health Organisation show that deaths on the road are increasing, with road traffic accidents  the global leading cause of death among people aged 15-29.
