CAAM sticks to forecast as China sales slow to a trickle

Despite a mere 3.7% car sales rise in April, CAAM is sticking to its full-year forecast

China's slowdown continued in April, though the car market managed to keep ahead of last year's figure. According the latest data from the China Automobile Manufacturers Association (CAAM), passenger car sales totalled 1,668,800 units in April - a 10.8% drop from the previous month but a modest 3.7% rise year-on-year. For the January-April period, car sales stand at 6,973,900 units, still up by 7.7% year-on-year but rising 2.8 percentage points slower than last year.
