Buses integral to Dutch electric ambitions

A Dutch province plans to exclude emissions from its public transport system by 2025, and electric buses will play a key role

In a bid to reduce public transport’s reliance on fossil fuels, countries across the world have been examining and trialling electric buses. In Europe, Volvo has consistently been a champion in the electric bus segment, and has focused on honing its efforts in Gothenburg, Sweden. The OEM has told Automotive World that it welcomes competitors in the segment, suggesting that the more companies that get involved the better.

VDL Bus & Coach also aims to promote electric bus adoption in Europe. It has recently seen interest from a number of companies and organisations based in the Netherlands.
