The global market penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) remains relatively small, as issues such as high costs and range anxiety continue to plague the segment. While various tech developers are working hard to reduce the price and maximise the energy efficiency of batteries, companies that specialise in providing lightweight materials like aluminium believe that they can help contribute to enhancing the characteristics of EVs. Lightweighting with aluminium could also be an integral strategy for OEMs looking to launch autonomous vehicles.
