Tesla did not keep early Autopilot crash data, engineer admits

Tesla faces hefty fines and could create legal precedents should it lose its case in Miami. By Stewart Burnett

A Tesla engineer testified during federal court proceedings in Miami that the automaker failed to maintain crash records for its driver-assist system until March 2018. The trial, which began on 14 July 2025, concerns a fatal crash which took place in 2019 when Tesla’s Autopilot mode was engaged.
