More price fixing allegations, but don’t expect clarity just yet

Analysts warn that the latest investigation into six companies for alleged steel price fixing will likely take time to bear fruit, writes Freddie Holmes

Facilities belonging to six automotive companies have been stormed by the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt), following allegations of steel price fixing.

The details are sparse, but BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have all confirmed that raids took place at certain plants on 23 June 2016. The two largest Tier 1 automotive suppliers – Robert Bosch and ZF – have also been raided as part of the same investigation.
