Germany enters political debate over EV incentives

The spotlight falls on Germany as it discusses a plan to implement incentives for EVs and HEVs, writes Michael Nash

On Friday 11 February, 2016, Germany will play host to a discussion on the potential implementation of electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) incentives worth up to €5,000 (US$5,464) per vehicle. Politicians and OEMs, including Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW, hope to come to an agreement as to how to fund the incentives, according to a report by Der Spiegel.
