Chery tops list of Chinese Manufacturers with “Best Overseas Image” in 2015

On September 23, in the selection of 2015 China Top 20 Enterprises in Overseas Image–“One Belt and One Road” directed by the State Council Information Office, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and the ASEAN-China Centre, organized by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, and co-organized by China Report magazine, Chery was ranked third as the highest-ranking equipment manufacturer and automaker, ahead of numerous Internet and home appliance giants such as Alibaba, Baidu, Xiaomi and Haier.

At the 2015 (3rd) China Enterprise Overseas Image Summit on September 23, the 2015 Investigation Report on Chinese Enterprises’ Overseas Image–“One Belt and One Road” and the list of 2015 China Top 20 Enterprises in Overseas Image were released. The investigation was conducted by the Horizon Institute of Global Development Power, an internationally renowned professional research and consulting agency under Horizon. The investigation involved 1,493 respondents in 12 countries along the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. By assessing the investigated enterprises’ performance in five dimensions: social responsibility, public relations, localization, transparency and compliance, the report comprehensively and objectively reflected overseas people’s views of Chinese enterprises, and showed the overall overseas image of Chinese enterprises in a more scientific and precise manner.

After over ten years’ overseas market development and global operations, Chery’s overseas market layout highly overlaps with the countries along “One Belt and One Road”, showing the prospectiveness of Chery’s global operations. This is also the main reason why Chery was ranked top among 2015 China Top 20 Enterprises in Overseas Image. According to statistics, Chery’s overseas sales network has covered 46 of over 60 planned countries along “One Belt and One Road”, which contributes over 50 percent of Chery’s total exports. Across the world, Chery has had operations in markets such as Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America, sold products to over 80 countries and regions, established 14 manufacturing bases and over 2,000 distribution and service outlets abroad, and forged longstanding partnerships with enterprises in most countries and regions. Chery has not only established marketing service network in different countries to sell its key products, but also established localization plants in key markets such as
Iran and Russia. According to statistics, Chery exported 66,497 units in the first eight months of this year, accounting for over 26 percent of China’s total passenger vehicle exports, so as to remain as China’s largest vehicle exporter. To date, Chery has exported a total of over 1.1 million units, ranking 1st in China for 12 consecutive years. And China’s cumulative global sales have reached 5 million units.

Since the beginning of this year, the “globalization” of China’s equipment manufacturing has been elevated to a strategic level, and the government has been intensifying the “globalization” of production capacity and equipment. In the strategic context of jointly constructing the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the Made in China 2025 Plan and the Guiding Opinion of the State Council on Advancing International Cooperation in Production Capacity and Equipment Manufacturing worked out by the State Council have provided a blueprint and policy support for the “globalization” of China’s manufacturing. To Chery, the globalization of China’s production capacity exactly tallies with the strong demand of the countries around “One Belt and One Road” for infrastructural construction, and has created a better opportunity for Chery’s globalization. Thus, based on the domestic market, Chery is actively developing overseas markets, optimizing the international sales network and establishing overseas manufacturing bases, so as to become a pacesetter in the “globalization” of Chinese equipment manufacturers.

Chery’s being ranked third among “2015 China Top 20 Enterprises in Overseas Image”–“One Belt and One Road” is obviously attributable to its good reputation developed in its overseas operations over the past decade. With the constant improvement of its product power and the constant intensification of its overseas market development and brand promotion after strategic transformation, Chery’s global market share and brand influence are expected to be further expanded.
