GM’s Thiesen on bringing FCV technology to the mass market

GM's Dr Lars-Peter Thiesen discusses the future of FCVs, safety concerns and their consumer appeal

Dr Lars-Peter Thiesen is the Manager of Advanced Technology Strategy at GM Europe and has been working in fuel cell vehicle (FCV) development for around 15 years. In the late 1990s, GM began to develop FCVs and has continued its research since. Thiesen was responsible for the European hydrogen fuel cell deployment strategy and HydroGen4 – GM’s fourth generation FCV. He is also involved in the Clean Energy Partnership, which involves 30 cars running on fuel cells in Germany as part of a consortium.
