Chinese brands under fire for over-reporting EV sales

Intense competition has prompted some brands into misleading sales reporting practices. By Megan Lampinen

Chinese brands have come under fire for over-reporting sales of electric vehicles (EVs) to meet targets, take advantage of government subsidies and appear more robust than they actually are. The practice involves insuring vehicles before they have a buyer, a move which under Chinese policy allows for a sale to be registered.
