In March 8,679 Volvo trucks were delivered, a decrease of 13% compared with the same month last year.
In Europe 3,214 vehicles were delivered, down 19% compared with March 2012. The delivery numbers reflect the weak order intake during the second part of 2012 when truck customers delayed their investment decisions due to uncertainty about the European economy.
March deliveries in Asia increased by 17% mainly to 1,044 vehicles due to increased deliveries in India and the Middle East.
In North America, deliveries in March decreased 31% to 1,759 vehicles in comparison with the same month last year. The primary market driver continues to be replacement demand in the highway segment, tempered by lingering caution regarding the economy.
March deliveries in Brazil increased 25% to 1,805 trucks compared with March 2012. The increase was driven by infrastructure investments and continued low financing rates. Deliveries for all of Latin America increased 14% in March to 2,207 commercial vehicles.
