Volvo Cars continued its trajectory towards another record year in global sales in October, on the back of a strong performance in China. Year-to-date sales growth globally amounted to 8.4 per cent, resulting in total sales for the first ten months of the year of 424,772 cars (2015: 391,948).

Sales of the new Volvo XC90 were the main growth driver globally, while the XC60 continues to be the best-selling model overall.

In China, Volvo’s sales increase now amounts to 12.5 per cent year-to-date, based on another month of double-digit growth in October. The best-selling models were the locally-produced Volvo XC60 and S60L models.

Sales in Western Europe were up 6.2 per cent year-to-date with continued strong demand in several key markets. The Volvo XC60 was the best-selling model in the region.

In the United States, Volvo remains on track for another year of double-digit growth. The overall increase for the first ten months amounts to 20.6 per cent, and 64,874 cars have been delivered so far this year. Demand in the US continues to be driven by the new Volvo XC90, followed by the XC60.

Globally, the Volvo XC60 was the best-selling model in the first ten months of 2016 with 126,495 cars sold (2015: 128,364), followed by the Volvo V40/V40 Cross Country with 80,687 sold cars (83,904). The new XC90 was third with 73,579 cars sold (24,653). Sales figures by model can be found in the Sales Volumes section of the Global Newsroom.
