Thomas Ulbrich (47) has been appointed Board of Management member for Production and Logistics at Volkswagen Passenger Cars. He succeeds Dr. Hubert Waltl (55), who becomes the new Board of Management member for Production at AUDI AG. These changes take effect on April 1, 2014.

Thomas Ulbrich holds a degree in vehicle engineering and also qualified as an automotive mechanic. He joined the Volkswagen Group in 1989, and became head of logistics at FAW-Volkswagen in China in 1996. Two years later he assumed responsibility for assembly segment II at the Wolfsburg plant before becoming head of plant logistics at Emden in 1999. Ulbrich was named technical managing director and speaker of the management board of Auto 5000 in Wolfsburg in 2001. He became Board of Management member for Production at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hanover in 2008, and moved to Shanghai-Volkswagen Automotive Co., China, as Technical Executive Vice President in 2010, taking charge of production and logistics at a total of five locations.

Dr. Hubert Waltl holds a degree in mechanical engineering and also qualified as a toolmaker and mechanical engineering technician. He began his career in the Group as an apprentice at Audi in 1973. He held various management functions in the areas tool and dye and production planning in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm from 1994. In 2002 Waltl was made responsible for the tool and dye unit within the Audi brand. In addition to these responsibilities he was also in charge of tool and dye within the Group network as well as body shop planning and tool and dye for the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand from 2007, before being appointed Board of Management member for Production and Logistics at Volkswagen Passenger Cars in 2009.
