- M&HCV, passenger cars drive growth for Tata Motors in February
- The company’s sales grew by 11 percent Y-O-Y at 44,225 vehicles
Tata Motors saw strong growth in certain key segments, as passenger cars (excluding UV’s) and M&HCV grew by 31 percent and 34 percent, respectively, year-on-year; with the total commercial and passenger vehicles sales (including exports) in February 2015 of 44,225 vehicles, a growth of 11 percent over 39,951 vehicles sold in February 2014. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for February 2015 were 40,314 vehicles, a growth of 14 percent over 35,315 vehicles, sold in February 2014.
Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal were 449,802 vehicles, lower by 13 percent over 515,511 vehicles sold last year.
Passenger vehicles
In February 2015, Tata Motors passenger vehicles recorded sales of 13,767 vehicles, a growth of 22 percent compared to 11,325 vehicles sold in February 2014.
The trend of growth in passenger vehicles continued with strong Zest sales and the good response to the all-new Bolt. While sales of passenger cars in February 2015 were at 11,805 vehicles, up by 31 percent over February 2014, UV sales declined 15 percent at 1,962 vehicles in February 2015.
Cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 119,041 vehicles, lower by five percent over last year.
Commercial vehicles
Tata Motors’ sales of commercial vehicles in February 2015 in the domestic market were 26,547 vehicles, higher by 11 percent over February 2014. LCV sales were at 14,357 vehicles, a decline of four percent over February 2014, while M&HCV sales continued to show growth at 12,190 vehicles, higher by 34 percent over February 2014.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 286,263 vehicles, lower by 17 percent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales were 174,083 vehicles, a decline of 30 percent over last year, while M&HCV sales were at 112,180 vehicles, higher by 15 percent over last year.
Exports
Tata Motors sales from exports were 3,911 vehicles in February 2015, lower by 16 percent as compared to 4,636 vehicles in February 2014. Cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal were at 44,498 vehicles, remained flat, compared to last year.
