Sogefi acquires strategic order to supply German premium car maker with key component for its next generation full electric (BEV) platform

Sogefi continues to widen its international technical lead in the field of thermal management for hybrid, full electric and hydrogen engines

Sogefi continues to widen its international technical lead in the field of thermal management for hybrid, full electric and hydrogen engines.

Sogefi’s innovative cooling water distributor module has been chosen for the next generation full-electric BEV platform by a premium German car maker.

Expected volumes are close to 200 000 parts over 7 years. Added value will be 5 times greater than on a standard plastic air manifold. Orbey plant, based in France, will start production from 2023.

This component manages the distribution of coolant through different systems like the electric motors, the battery system, the power electronics unit, and various coolers. This multilayer cooling module integrates piloted valves and pumps in a very optimized flat space, allowing for a low pressure drop.

A specific welding technology developed by Sogefi is used in order to realize this module, which provides high level of robustness and cleanliness. Sogefi plans to roll out this technology to future coolant modules under development for e-mobility applications, as it can bring many advantages and it allows to weld complex shapes with a level of freedom that cannot be obtained with older welding technologies.

Sogefi has been working on the development of thermal management solutions for electric engines since 2015, accumulating extensive experience in the process and developing a comprehensive range of products applicable to hybrid, full electric and fuel cell engines.
