Pre-concept study for a new engine family intended for power generation applications of 1-3 MW New product to be internationally competitive and targeted at both Chinese and export markets Underscores Ricardo’s leading position in large engine technology and the Chinese market Weichai Power is one of China’s leading engine manufacturers for the commercial vehicle, off-highway, marine and power generation markets. Under the contract signed in the presence of chairman Tan Xuguang of Weichai Power, Ricardo CEO Dave Shemmans and Ricardo Asia president Gary Tan, Ricardo will collaborate with Weichai on a pre-concept study for the new family of engines of configurations ranging from in-line 6-cylinder to V16 variants. The new engine is targeted at achieving internationally competitive levels of performance and fuel economy and durability and cost of ownership.
