Kia delivered 14,787 new cars to customers in March – not only Kia’s best-ever March performance but a best-ever single month sales figure for the brand.
And the March sales capped off a record first quarter for Kia with 21,608 vehicles registered. Kia’s previous best single month performance was in September last year when customers bought 12,728 new vehicles and the performance was 17.3 per cent up over March 2013 and 16.2 per cent up over September 2013.
Sportage retained its position as Kia’s best seller with 3,784 sold in March and 5,649 delivered during the first quarter. Following Sportage were Picanto with 3,114 sold, Rio reaching 2,638, the cee’d family with 2,511 delivered and Venga with sales totalling 1,144.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia Motors (UK) Limited commented: “This is a fantastic performance by our dealers and I am particularly pleased that it is retail customers who represent our single biggest audience with nearly 60 per cent of sales going to private buyers. Equally satisfying is that corporate sales through our dealers are also very strong as this ensures network profitability and growth – a major target in our growth strategy.
“It is clear that the Kia product line-up, our well-established quality and reliability standards and our industry-leading seven year warranty continue to appeal strongly to motorists looking to make their motoring investment work effectively for them,” he added.
Kia’s March sales represented a 3.18 per cent market share and during the first quarter the brand’s total represented a 3.14 per cent share of the UK new car market.
