Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for March 2014, as well as the cumulative figures for the twelve-month period from April 2013 through March 2014.
1. Production
March 2014
Nissan’s global production in March increased 10.4% year-on-year to 484,990 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.
Production in Japan increased 21.1% year-on-year to 88,754 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Skyline, Infiniti Q50 and Patrol.
Production outside of Japan increased 8.2% year-on-year to 396,236 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.
In the U.S., production increased 27.1% year-on-year to 88,891 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Rogue, marking an all-time record for a single month.
In Mexico, production increased 32.2% year-on-year to 70,590 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sentra and Versa Note, marking an all-time record for a single month.
In the U.K., production increased 21.8% year-on-year to 52,237 units, mainly due to higher demand for the Juke, Note and Nissan LEAF, marking an all-time record for the month of March.
In Spain, production increased 61.5% year-on-year to 16,263 units.
In China, production increased 4.0% year-on-year to 114,243 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sylphy series, new X-Trail and Venucia brand models.
Production in other regions decreased 12.9% year-on-year to 54,012 units.
April 2013 – March 2014
Global production for the April 2013-March 2014 period increased 6.0% year-on-year to 5,078,081 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Production in Japan declined 5.7% year-on-year to 1,000,190 units.
Production outside of Japan increased 9.4% year-on-year to 4,077,891 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Production increased in the U.S., Mexico and the U.K., marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Production increased in Spain and China.
Production decreased in other regions.
2. Sales
March 2014
Global sales in March increased 7.2% year-on-year to 584,912 units.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 103,436 units in Japan, up 18.7% year-on-year.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in March decreased 0.1% year-on-year to 67,712 units.
Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 84.8% year-on-year to 35,724 units, mainly due to strong sales of the Nissan DAYZ series. Mini-vehicle sales were an all-time record for a single month.
Sales outside of Japan increased 5.0% year-on-year to 481,476 units.
Sales in the U.S. increased 8.3% year-on-year to 149,136 units, an all-time sales record for a single month, mainly due to higher demand for the Sentra, the new Rogue and Juke.
Sales in Mexico increased 2.1% year-on-year to 22,121 units. Nissan has been the sales leader in Mexico for 58 consecutive months.
In Europe, sales increased 17.4% year-on-year to 97,016 units, mainly due to increased sales for the Note and Micra, marking an all-time record for a single month.
In China, sales were up 26.0% year-on-year to 115,906 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sylphy series, Teana and Venucia brand models.
Sales in other regions decreased 11.6% year-on-year to 86,715 units.
April 2013 – March 2014
Global sales increased 6.7% year-on-year to 5,188,517 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 719,023 units in Japan, up 11.1% year-on-year.
In Japan, Nissan’s vehicle registrations from April 2013 to March 2014 decreased 0.5% year-on-year to 493,384 units.
Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 49.4% year-on-year to 225,639 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Sales outside of Japan increased 6.1% year-on-year to 4,469,494 units, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Sales increased in the U.S. and Mexico, marking an all-time record for the April-March period.
Sales increased in Europe and China.
Sales declined in other regions.
3. Japan Exports
March 2014
Nissan’s exports in March increased 12.7% year-on-year to 35,457 units.
Exports to North America increased 42.9% year-on-year to 17,151 units.
April 2013 – March 2014
Nissan’s exports from April 2013 to March 2014 decreased 10.2% year-on-year to 546,654 units.
Exports to North America decreased 5.6% year-on-year to 354,144 units.
