The brand also started the New Year on an impressive note, with growth in January up over 50% year-on year. At the national auto show in Delhi today, Ola Källenius, Member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for Marketing & Sales, presented the latest Mercedes-Benz compact car models: “India plays a key role in our global growth strategy given that the luxury car market here has the potential to double in size by 2020. This is why we are presenting out latest models at the most important car show in India – models that will be launched on this market before the year is out.”
With the compact off-roader GLA and the CLA 45 AMG, Mercedes-Benz is presenting two exceptionally attractive models for the first time on the sub-continent. Mercedes-Benz GLA: Fuel Consumption combined: 7,5-4,3 l/100km; CO2-Emissions combined: 175 – 114 g/km; efficiency class: D-A)*, (Mercdedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG: Fuel Consumption combined: 7,1-6,9l/100km; CO2-Emissions combined: 165 – 161 g/km; efficiency class: C.)* The series production version of the GLA even made its debut on the Asian market in Delhi. With the 4MATIC all-wheel drive and state-of-the-art diesel and petrol engines, the compact SUV is not only visually appealing but also extremely dynamic and robust.
“Following the highly successful launch of the S-Class in India, Mercedes-Benz is opening a whole new chapter with its sporty compact models”, said Eberhard Kern, President of Mercedes-Benz in India. “We expect a great deal from the new products that we will be launching this year as they will provide an entry point for new customer groups to explore the brand. Our vehicles are especially attractive in this segment, for instance among well-educated, young target groups with good incomes.” With the premieres on the Auto Expo press day, Mercedes-Benz will be sending out a high-profile signal in India for the automotive year of 2014, and will be continuing the model initiative that began with the new C-Class and four new S-Class variants.
