GAZ Group shows two specialty vehicle models on the basis of GAZon Next truck at Russian Public Utilities 2016 exhibition. The novelty is a road cleaning vehicle. The exhibition is held on 6-8 April at Expoforum (Saint Petersburg).
GAZon Next road cleaning vehicle is the first modern specialty vehicle of the type that is made on a truck basis. Previously, such vehicles were mostly made on the basis of heavy-duty trucks. Lower price, lower fuel consumption and high maneuverability are GAZon Next advantages vs. heavier trucks. The vehicle for asphalt and concrete road cleaning is equipped with two brushes, garbage hopper, water tank, water pump and independent diesel powertrain. Water nozzles are installed to the vehicle front to reduce the amount of dust caused by road brushing. Garbage discharge is similar to that of a dump truck. The maximal amount of garbage is 3 t, the water tank capacity is up to 1,400 l.
A low-cost and energy efficient YMZ-534 CNG engine is installed to the garbage truck made on the basis of GAZon Next medium-duty truck. Annual savings from using a CNG vehicle vs. a diesel vehicle amounts to approximately RUR 170 k. The engine capacity is 149 h.p. Seven 72.8 m3 gas bottles assure a fuel range of at least 370 km. The maximal torque amounts to 190 Nm. The small sized garbage truck with a rear loading is used for discharging garbage containers with the capacity of up to 1,100 l (including 110/120/240/330/660 l). Small vehicle size allows reaching hard-to-access containers sites, maneuver at loaded city streets, and follow the routes prohibited to heavy-duty trucks. The vehicle is excellent for large enterprises. The total displacement is 8.7 m3, the trip gear payload is 800 kg, and the garbage weight amounts to 2,800 kg.
CNG vehicle purchase is subsidized within the framework of Automobile Industry subprogram being a part of Industry Development and Competiveness Increase Russian state program.
