[Industry first! Hybrid BEARPHITE that can be used in high PV ranges 10-times that of conventional products]
NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) has developed the high-precision, low-friction “Hybrid BEARPHITE HP*1” sliding bearing with outstanding wear resistance.
Various types of bearings are used for the rotational parts of office equipment such as photocopiers and printers. Rolling bearings had chiefly been used in the past, however NTN has being improving the performance of resin sliding bearings and sintered sliding bearings with a view to use these as replacements for rolling bearings. One of these developments is the “Hybrid BEARPHITE*2” that features a sintered metal as the backing metal, and a thin resin sliding material insert molding as the inner diameter surface. This bearing has been mass-produced for use in the photosensitive drum bearing of photocopiers that require a high level of rotational precision.
The newly developed “Hybrid BEARPHITE HP” uses ultrahigh molecular weight resin for outstanding wear resistance, and has achieved ten-times the permissible PV value*3 compared to the conventional hybrid BEARPHITE. In addition to photosensitive parts, the new product can also be used for sections such as copying, transportation and development.
The new bearing can be molded with the same dimensions as rolling bearings, which makes it a feasible replacement for rolling bearings directly. Thicker width designs and outer shapes other than circles are also possible.
NTN has already started to propose the newly developed product to manufacturers of office equipment, and is also planning to propose the bearing to a wide range of customers in the industrial machinery and automotive industries.
