On September 20th 2015, China’s auto brand Chery set out from eastern Saudi Arabia’s port city of Damman for a one-month extreme journey of Tiggo 3 and Tiggo 5. After going through acid tests, Chery’s many latest models will be launched in Saudi Arabia, with these two as the featured products.
The most area of Saudi Arabia has a typical tropical desert climate, with an average annual precipitation of not more than 200 millimeters and the highest temperature of over 50 degrees Celsius throughout the year. In addition, Saudi Arabia is located in the center of the Arab plateau zone where 90% of the territory is covered by immense desert with tough terrain. Such a harsh climate is a great challenge to travel in a car.
To ensure that the new models to be launched in Saudi Arabia adapt to formidable local natural conditions, satisfy local consumers’ demand for new models, maintain and enhance Chery’s local reputation, Chery will work with a competitive local dealer to conduct a high-temperature extreme adaptive road test lasting nearly one month. During the test, Chery’s new models will run 50,000 kilometers normally and continuously in harsh local climatic and topographical conditions such as high temperature, mountain and sand, and Chery will adjust the models based on test feedback to meet local consumers’ need for vehicle differentiation.
Despite severe test conditions, Chery had full confidence in the tests. According to a head of Chery, Chery has kept to the objective of “safety, energy conservation and environmental protection” and acted on international conventions over the years, so as to establish a set of quality assurance management systems with its own features. Among the models involved in the road test, Chery 5, Chery’s new-generation fine strategic model, went through 2.8 million kilometers of road reliability tests during R & D. Validated by the market over the past three years, Tiggo 3 has been widely recognized for its outstanding quality. Thus, Chery was fully confident of the high-temperature road test in Saudi Arabia.
Tiggo 3 and Tiggo 5 involved in the test have been launched in the UAE and other Gulf countries this year, and earned good reputation in these markets. It is believed that Chery will achieve better performance in Saudi Arabia after passing the road test.
