Volkswagen customers are able to update map data for their navigation systems by themselves at no extra cost. The existing deal for the latest generation of navigation devices is now being significantly extended. These devices are currently available in the new Polo, the Golf, Golf Sportsvan and Golf Estate and in the new Passat and Passat Estate.
Road usage and infrastructure are constantly changing. Navigation devices therefore regularly need up-to-date data. Without this information the navigation device would, for instance, be unable to find a newly built road in a residential district.
Up until now, Volkswagen has offered free updating of the navigation software for the ‘Discover Media’ and ‘Discover Pro’ devices for up to three years after supply of the vehicle. This offer is now being extended to at least five years after the device generation’s end of production and also applies retrospectively to all vehicles already shipped.
Customers can do the updates themselves. Detailed instructions can be found atwww.volkswagen.de. The sub-section within the ‘Service & Accessories’ area is ‘Technology / Infotainment’. The relevant data will be made available there up to twice a year.
