‘Wake-up call’ for CV fuel efficiency in Europe

The new US GHG standards could be a ‘wake-up call’ for Europe’s CV segment, writes Michael Nash

According to the European Commission (EC), transport in the EU depends on oil for about 94% of its energy needs. Authorities have recently outlined a plan to reduce this figure through to 2050, with a strong focus on improving the efficiency of commercial vehicles (CVs). However, the plan does not include a rule to implement fuel economy standards.
