How vulnerable is the connected car to hacking?

As the car becomes increasingly connected, it in turn becomes increasingly vulnerable to hacking. Concerns have reached such a level that federal vehicle safety regulators in the US are questioning OEMs to understand how cyber security is managed at their companies and how potential vulnerabilities are addressed.
