Voltfang opens Europe’s largest second-life battery plant

Voltfang’s Aachen plant will produce 250 MWh annually by 2026, rising to 1 GWh by 2030 provided there is sufficient demand. By Stewart Burnett

German startup Voltfang has officially inaugurated its battery storage factory in Aachen, marking the launch of Europe's largest second-life battery facility. The Voltfang Future Fab, housed in the former site of insolvent electric vehicle (EV) maker Next.e.GO, builds stationary storage systems from used EV batteries and surplus automotive cells.
