The US truck segment could soon witness growth in the use of natural gas (NG). At its recent annual meeting, the US National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) voted to approve the diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) as a legally authorised method of sales for NG fuel. This will provide a “benchmark for consistency with taxation methods and creates efficiencies associated with accounting and record keeping requirements,” according to Natural Gas Vehicles for America (NGVA) – a trade association that represents over 230 companies involved in NG. The standard is good news for NG solution providers, a number of which have suggested that growth is on the horizon.
