Strong gains for Ford vans and trucks, but incentive spend raising concerns

Ford's Mark LaNeve points to the commercial van and pick-up segments as key growth drivers, but a big increase in incentive levels has some analysts asking questions

Following lacklustre volumes earlier this year, Ford managed to ramp up momentum in August to set a nine-year high in its home market. The OEM's US sales for the month rose 5% year-on-year to 234,237 units. Not surprisingly, trucks played a big part in this, but so too did commercial vans.
