Urban transport of the future is increasingly described as a ‘smart city,’ but what does a smart city actually entail, and what are the benefits of one?
According to a new report entitled ‘Smart Cities: Strategies, Energy, Emissions & Cost Savings 2014-2019,’ carried out by Juniper Research, smart city traffic management and parking projects will reduce cumulative global emissions by about 164 million metric tonnes of CO2 between 2014 and 2019 - equivalent to the annual emissions produced by 35 million vehicles.
