Shared mobility sets a billion-dollar standard

OEM investments suggest the future potential for shared mobility services far outweighs their current operational size, writes Megan Lampinen

With increasingly hefty investments from traditional OEMs, alternative mobility is moving mainstream. Toyota has just invested a notable US$1bn in Asian car-hailing service Grab. That's double the US$500m that General Motors originally invested in Lyft two years ago, which at the time raised eyebrows. This sort of expenditure is quickly becoming the norm.
