Scania targets Asia with €2bn China manufacturing hub

Scania aims to beat Chinese truckmakers in their home market and overseas with a 50,000-unit capacity plant. By Stewart Burnett

Swedish truckmaker Scania will open its €2bn (US$2.34bn) plant in Rugao, China, in October 2025, with plans to export at least half of total output to Asian and Oceanian markets. The Traton unit's largest investment outside Sweden in six decades, the plant will produce 50,000 vehicles annually—equivalent to half of Scania's current global capacity.
