Russian pull-out forces Opel to cut production in Germany

Opel is blaming the Russian market collapse for the decision to introduce short-time working at Eisenach and Ruesselsheim

The Russian automotive market has been on a downward spiral for a while now, and numbers from the first half of this year showed no signs of any improvement likely in the near term. The first six months of 2015 saw new light vehicle sales plummet 36.4% year-on-year, from already depressed levels, to 782,094 units.
