Robots create ‘better work environments for employees’, says Ford

Robots have been involved in vehicle manufacturing for decades, but a new generation of co-bots is further benefiting car production line workers. By Michael Nash

Production lines in many industries have been revolutionised with the arrival of smart manufacturing and increased use of ergonomics in the design of production equipment; all the while, the growing adoption of robots continues to shape the way in which vehicles are built. As a result, the role of the human production line worker in the automotive has changed, becoming safer, less strenuous and increasingly efficient.
