Sales in the NAFTA light vehicle (LV) market grew to 20.4 million units during 2015, marking a 5.9% year-on-year increase. Canada contributed to this growth, as demand in the country reached an all-time peak with a 3.3% increase in sales year-on-year. Outlook for the region is positive too, with forecasts suggesting a further 2.6% rise during 2016.
The Canadian government has high hopes for the future, especially when it comes to alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) adoption. In its 2016 Federal Budget, it said that it would support “large-scale R&D projects focused on new vehicle technologies,” with “clean and connected” a top priority.
