North American gap threatens VW’s CV ambitions

With VW very clear in its intention to become a close competitor to the other global truck makers, North America simply can't be ignored

Volkswagen is pushing ahead with ambitious growth plans for its commercial vehicle business, which includes the Volkswagen, MAN and Scania operations. While combined production across the three fell by 7.3% to 634,700 units last year, recovery is on the way. According to the Automotive World report Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Production Outlook to 2019, output levels among the three should improve by 5-6% this year, thanks to a revival in demand in western Europe and Asia Pacific.
