Nissan CEO favours self-help strategy

Speaking at the FT's Future of the Car Summit, Nissan's CEO addresses key headwinds and his approach to navigating them. By Ian Henry

Can Nissan survive on its own, without a capital injection from a major partner? That was the opening question for Ivan Espinosa, the new Nissan Chief Executive, at the FT Auto Summit in London recently. The Spaniard, the second non-native to run the troubled Japanese car company, was clear in his response: yes, we can. He then explained, confidently, how this would come to pass, all being well.
