National regulators fail to punish dirty diesels

Transport & Environment believes that regulators have failed to act on data that compromises diesel vehicles. Michael Nash investigates

Belgium-based non-government organisation (NGO) Transport & Environment recently re-analysed data from national emissions testing programmes to identify 30 of the worst polluting diesel cars currently on Europe’s roads. Each of these cars, says T&E, was “approved [for sale] by one of seven national type approval authorities,” despite the fact that they all fail to meet standards in real-world conditions.
