35,092 people died as a result of vehicle collisions in the US during 2015, marking the largest increase in traffic deaths since 1966 – according to statistics published by the US Department of Transportation’s (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Preliminary estimates for the first half of 2016 indicate a further rise in fatalities by around 10.4% when compared to the same period in 2015.
