At CES 2016, Continental is showcasing a 48-volt (48-v) mild hybrid demo car with connected Energy Management (cEM) – a system that uses cloud data to suggest actions to the driver in order to maximise efficiency.
The supplier believes that cEM can reduce fuel consumption by up to 4%, and in combination with a 48-v system, could dramatically change the next generation of fuel-efficient vehicles.
Speaking to Automotive World, Oliver Maiwald, Head of Technology & Innovations at the Continental Powertrain Division, described the key features of the demo vehicle and unveiled plans for the future of its 48-v portfolio.
