EU car emissions down 4% – on paper

The reduction is generally viewed as promising, but its reflection of real world results remains in doubt.

The latest figures on new car CO2 emissions in the EU are in, showing a 4% improvement from last year. Data from the European Environment Agency (EEA) shows that the average new car sold in 2013 had CO2 emissions of 127g/km, putting OEMs safely ahead of the 2015 target of 130g/km.
