Digital innovation opens new doors for lubricant supplier

Michael Nash speaks to Castrol about innovative new products and ideas that could soon come to market

Lubricant suppliers to the automotive industry have to pay attention to a number of trends when developing new products. Fuel economy is one of the most important factors, and in a recent rush to improve the efficiency of engines, a number of companies have brought new low viscosity oils to market. Engine durability and product sustainability are also vital, while lubricant friction reduction plays an important role.

Castrol, a world leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of lubricants, is taking a two pronged approach to innovation. Its lubricants business aims to push the boundaries for engine oils, while a subsidiary called Castrol InnoVentures aims to extend the company’s expertise beyond lubricants.
