Cost and impact: assembly line robots hit the sweet spot

The automotive industry has emerged as a pioneer in adopting smart manufacturing technologies. ABI Research estimates that the industry in general has automated around 50% of its operations, compared to a 20-30% automation rate for most other industries. Automation takes many forms, but vehicle and component assembly line operations represent a particularly promising application area.
