Contract manufacturers to benefit from increased diversity

Valmet Automotive has had success in 2015. New players and increased model ranges in the market could see the good times continue

2015 has seen some notable contract manufacturing announcements. In November, Mercedes-Benz announced it would outsource some production of the GLC to Valmet Automotive. Production will begin at Valmet’s plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland, in Q1 2017. The facility already builds A-Class models. Meanwhile, Magna Steyr will build additional volumes of a future model for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) at its plant in Graz, Austria. Research from Automotive World suggests the model in question will be the new Defender.
